The following weekday after the deliverance Alex's father had a routine eye exam. His father had totally lost his vision in his left eye years ago so now he had to make sure he had regular check-ups to make sure that he was going to be able to maintain his right eye. Alex had to accompany him on this visit. He decided to tell the eye doctor about his own vision problems. The doctor then examined him.
After the exam the doctor was immediately stunned and said, "This is an emergency! If we don't do something right now your corneas could stick together and cause permanent blindness. You must get laser surgery now! I will do it for you right now!" It wasn't even Alex's appointment, yet the doctor was so worried that this had to be done immediately that he took him to the laser machine and did a procedure to save Alex's vision right away. His Flourescent Angiometry scan that day also revealed a mysterious lump which was located at the back of his eye. The doctor could only guess as to why it was there. And said that he could not do anything about it. But he did separate the cornea's because they had not yet glued together. I thought that this might be the way God was working on Alex's behalf to fulfill the healing that Jay had spoken over Alex a few nights before in the name of Jesus. God works in mysterious ways. We didn't expect this! We hadn't known how bad the problem actually was either until then. Maybe God wanted this all verified for the record to show us the reality of the spirit world, and his power to heal through his Son Jesus Christ.
I came back for Christmas to visit. When I came I noticed a dramatic difference in Alex. He was peaceful, pleasant and calm. His whole family noticed a big change in him. He was very sociable with everyone not reclusive like he used to be. He had vibrant energy emerging. He was busy around the house and running errands which was a huge relief for the family because his parents are elderly and needed the help with some everyday tasks.
One day while I was there we went to the mall to visit a perfume store. Alex had a coupon and wanted to get me some gifts. While we were there Alex kept smelling perfume samples on pieces of paper in order to pick out the perfect scent. I marveled as he sniffed at least ten strips the saleswoman sprayed perfume on. I thought back to the days of his demonic torment when he could not even go out of the house due to the smells in his surroundings. I could not even wear hair spray or any scented product around him because it had put him in distress in the past. I marveled at the transformation. Also, crowds of people used to bother him as well. He would avoid going out if there were lots of people. Then the noises used to cause stress too. Not once did he complain of the noises in his environment. He had truly been made of sound mind.
I was overjoyed to see him now playing Christian praise and worship music. He could not even listen to music before because the sounds caused pain to his ears. Now he was able to rejoice and sing praises. One day he told me that God had given him this verse to meditate upon out of Zephaniah 3:15-17.

I '"The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil anymore. In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."
Truly God had done this for him. The chastisement was over. The Lord had restored Alex. He described the days of his alienation from God as feeling like a horrible breakup had occurred. He would wet his pillow with tears in heartache over losing the presence of the Holy Spirit whom he had grieved. He would long for the return of the Holy Spirit and missed him like a man would miss his beloved.
In the days and months to follow he started to visit churches once again. He visited his cousin Sonya's church and his cousin Nelio's church. He went for their regular services as well as prayer meetings and a men's breakfast. The isolation he formerly had when he was held captive in his house had been finally broken. He now was able to rejoin the Body of Christ because the prison doors had been broken and the captive was now set free just like it says in Isaiah Chapter 42.
Isaiah 42:6 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house."
Alex made a return visit to the eye doctor at the beginning of February. His Flourescent Angiometry scan showed that the lump he had in the back of his eye was now totally flattened. The dark spot he had been seeing was gone and his vision was now normal.
Sometimes God has things in the natural world be symbolic of the spiritual world. On Alex's wall hangs a poster with this verse about how the crooked things will become straight. This poster had been on his wall through this whole ordeal over the past four years. Now we were seeing the fulfillment of this promise come to pass. Alex's crooked, or wavy vision was now straight.
Isaiah 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
He used to use "out of the dark" as an email address when he first met me. That must have been symbolic too because he was now truly "out of the dark" and God had made darkness light before him.
