Destructive Music.png

Alex was released from the Psychiatric Hospital early and entrusted into the care of his parents.  His parents and sister would visit him so often that the doctor felt confident that being at home would be better for him.  Besides that he begged to go home.

Once he was home I questioned him as to why he tried to kill himself.  I was hurt that he did not even consider the fact that killing himself would separate us forever and that he would never see me again.  He had once promised to never leave me.  I could not make sense of why he would do something like this.  Then he explained.  "I was hearing old Satanic Rock music songs playing in my mind non-stop.  I was hearing lyrics from a song called  Life Without Sense, by a group named Destruction.  It goes like this,

 People turn their heads

Whenever you walk by

Because they believe

You live a life without sense

Life without sense

Life without sense

If I'd be you, I might decide to commit suicide."

Alex as an Adolescent

He said later on that a variety of songs were being played in his mind that day he tried to take his life.  They were all songs that he had listened to in his youth.  The other songs that played in his mind were "Captor of Sin" by Slayer, "Satan's Vengeance" by Destruction, and "A Dangerous Meeting", "Into The Coven" and "Don't Break the Oath" by Mercyful Fate.

In his mid-twenties he gave up all of this evil music.  He threw out every record or tape he owned and even went as far as burning old concert T-shirts.  But the songs remained buried deep within his subconscious, now triggered by demons to play in his mind in order to edge him on.

I felt bad because I had talked to him earlier on that day on the phone.  He was highly oppressed and barely able to speak.  I told him that he better go to the hospital and not to call me unless it's to tell me that he's going there!  I knew that his state of mind was out of control and I felt helpless to do anything.  I was so worried about his safety that I resorted to threatening him.  I had no idea at the time these songs were running through his mind.  In times past I would pray for him.  I would bind whatever spirits were afflicting him.  But, I was so physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted that I just could not do it anymore.  This struggle seemed endless.  I just wanted him placed at the hospital for his own safety.  I thought they could give him some drug to temporarily put him out of his misery so he could get some sleep.

As I read through the various lyrics of the songs he gave me to look up I realized that these songs were some kind of "mind programming" to bring forth the things described in the lyrics.  I finally realized which character he resembled in the 1985 movie Legend. He was like Lily who was seduced by the lure of the devil's enchantments as you will see in the movie clip below. He came under a spell that took him over from the music which captivated his will. The Bible speaks about how a person's will can be taken over, and how it can be recovered:

2 Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
